Jillian Tamaki is a totally amazing illustrator from Canada. Having recently entered the comics realm of nerddome (I was christened when I paid money to go to the MoCCA Expo), I am really impressed with her illustrations. They are unique and beautiful. More here...enjoy!

A day at the museum!
Claes Oldenburg
The Dali Lobster phone!
An Eliasson room whose lights made all color appear black and white.
An Eliasson cube made of light and fog.
I went to the MoMA the other day to see the Olafur Eliasson exhibit. Fantastic! It was really fun to see something where you could interact with and touch and run through the pieces. One of the rooms was all black with a stream of rain going down the middle and strobe lights flashing.
There was also an excellent Salvador Dali show about his life in film. Did you know that Dali did a short animated film with Disney (called Destino)? I was totally surprised because Disney is basically evil, but maybe Dali knew something we didn't...
Here are some of the highlights of my trip.

Just Too Much
I have an incredible weakness for adorable old men and this guy was just too much. Also I love all the cool bright sneakers I've seen old people wearing lately. I recently saw a very tiny slow movin' oldster with like size 4 red and blue vinyl Nike Dunks on. You do it, old guys! You just go on and do it!

Cool People Walkin' Around
I saw this guy at the Battery Maritime Building (see below). He was totally channeling Marlon Brando from A Streetcar Named Desire, and I'm digging it. I bet that newspaper he's holding is from 1950 and is written in Italian.
I played the building
Over the weekend, some friends and I visited David Byrne's awesome sound project, Playing the Building, down on South Street in lower Manhattan. He's basically rigged an old piano up to the pipes, furnaces, and grates of the Battery Maritime Building, so when you press the keys, it resonates all around you. The building itself is quite beautiful, grand but totally run-down, and the creepy sounds created reflect its ghost-like qualities. Read more about it/listen here, and if you're in the area, definitely go see it.
PS: David Byrne is awesome.

New Tees
I made these cool tees for the band Japanther to wear on their summer tour. They are made from pieces of fabric topstitched onto the shirt. Turns out not having a screen printer just makes you get more creative! If you see anything you like, send me an email and we can work it out.
(note: the Homer shirt is not for sale)
